UPDATE: MC Delaste Shooting Investigators Announce Prime Suspect

07 / 08 / 2013       writer: Rodrick Rainey

The best detectives from São Paulo Police department investigated the deadly execution style shooting of funk artist MC Delaste Saturday night. Various people were held that night at the event for questioning and support. It is today, same day of the 20-year-old funk star's funeral, the task force have narrowed down things to a prime suspect.

According to Portuguese news site globo.com, the main person of interest was in the audience wearing gloves and carrying a video camera. It is yet to be known if they are investigating the up-loaders of the video footage to YouTube for answers, but likely so.

Shortly after the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a red Volkswagen Gol car.

São Paulo’s special crimes unit, junior officer Oswaldo Diez says that the department is looking into several tips. Information has been given by people at MC Delaste’s concert as well as some friends of the artist.

There is no motive yet found but the sheriff’s Special Crimes Unit (Necrim) is looking into the ideas of ‘crimes of passion’ or possibly retaliation for a fight before the show. Diez is not yet speaking on details on the pre-show fight nor who was involved.

The type of gun used in the killing is a 40 caliber. Two shots were fired that went through the ‘housing’ structure for the concert before hitting the funk singer. It is the type of gun police São Paulo Police carry, raising eye brows of some since Daleste has a song rebelling against police repressions.

“We ask that people send the images to the police and report if they have important information linking the 181,” request Diez to the fans attending the concert that night.

Update . Rumored "Brazilian Police Hit Squad" Killed MC Daleste and 7+ Other Rappers

As of 2019, there's been no real closure to Daleste's death. However, there's been startling evidence to support the Sao Paulo & Rio De Janiero Police were putting hits out on various rappers. According to DailyMail UK, people in the streets of Brazil have identified a group of rogue officers and ex-cops, which they have nicknamed ‘grupos de extermínio’ or ‘Milicia,' who are handling Police Precint's dirty work.

A very over-zealous group, apparently they have been known to hold very hard grudges against youth from the ghetto who speak against them and their crimes against humanity. Funk rappers and other music artists who have spoken out against them, end up murdered. Some were even killed with the standard issue gun of local police. A deep rabbit hole of issues like this plague the Brazilian government. Many believe the country has become stricken with racism issues and want to exterminate any group that's not agreeing for the whitening of Afro-heritage rich Brazil.
