Colorado Marijuana Dispensaries Shut Down, Built Too Near Denver-Boulder Schools
Medical Marijuana dispensaries in Colorado are legal. However, they must operate within respectable boundaries. One of these 'borders' have been crossed by at least 10 dispensaries, leading to US attorney warning for all. "Everyone who is operating a respectable business model is ok. MMJ, Hash Oils, and trippy stick vape pens are okay for card-holders in Denver, Boulder, and other cities. Some dispensaries just need to pay closer attention to detail," says Jasmine Hawkins, blogger for TrippySticky.com Indeed, some Denver and Boulder Medical Marijuana dispensaries do need to pay closer attention to detail. If they had, they might be allowed to remain open. Instead 10 or more cannabis clubs have received notice they must closer their doors. The reason for the notice is simple. MMJ clubs in Denver may not operate within 1000 feet of a school. A simple law, with obvious reasons. These dispensaries have failed to meet that requirement. By Monday, September 17th, all these Medical Marijuana dispensaries notified of breaking state regulations must shut their doors. A list of the stores in violation, were not made public, but they have received private notice. Far from a new issue, the US state attorney issued letters to 47 other 'pot shops' earlier in 2012. Those cannabis dispensaries committed similar or equal violations. Given notice in March and April this year, they have already closed their doors. These dispensaries are lucky. If prosecuted to the full extent of law, matters could be worse. According to KKTV, Federal criminal law includes enhanced penalties for anyone selling drugs within 1000 feet of a school. Unless approved for exemption by local government, all stores should comply with the standard. If dispensaries given notice do not close doors within 45 days, the US Attorney's office may seize the medical marijuana dispensaries store property, in entirety.
