Great White Sharks are not human-eating monsters depicted in 90's thriller film "Jaws". In fact,
it seems they much rather just enjoy watching water sports, explaining a recent event off the
coast of Massachusetts. A first time kayaker was recently trailed by a Great White shark,
motivation to improve his paddling technique.
Walter Szulc Jr was at Nauset Beach in Orleans, Mass., part of Cape Cod this past weekend.
Enjoying his Massachusetts weekend after the July 4th celebrations, he spent his get-away learning to
Kayak. His first time attempting the sport, he got another unique experience while on the water.
A 12- to 15-foot great white shark stalked him as he paddled, giving him an up-close look at
one of the water's most feared predators.
"It was good-sized, it had a fin sticking out, so I just turned and paddled," said
Szulc Jr of his experience to WHDH.com.
When the first time kayaker finally noticed something in the Cape Cod waters near by,
"was pretty much right there" he continued.
One of two to spot the Great White Shark off Nauset Beach, he was the only to have a close
encounter. Photos were captured of the shark following the kayaker, dorsal fins exposed.
The beach officials say that seals are in the area currently, attracting large sharks looking
to feed. It's said on MSN.com, areas of Cape Cod are now being closed to prevent a possible
shark attack.
