There will be no vacation time for rapper Eminem this summer as he just signed on as a headliner for his fourth summer music festival - Osheaga Music and Arts Festival. The festival will take place on June 29 through July 3, which is after Marshall's headline at Tennessee's Bonaroo (June 10-12), and before Chicago's Lollapalooza (Aug 5-7) and UK's V-Fest (Aug 20-21).
The festival is held in Montreal, Quebec's Parc Jean-Drapeau, which fit over 20,000 fans on both days of the 5th annual Festival in 2010. For 2011, the Festival expects an even larger crowd.
Accompanying Eminem as a headliner is Kid Cudi, Ratatat, the Flaming Lips, Elvis Costello and the Imposters, and Death Cab for Cutie. This year's 55 performers will try to top last year's lineup that included Arcade Fire, Weezer, Sonic Youth, Keane and Snoop Dogg.
In recent years, the rock festival has acquired a more hip hop vibe, signing artists such as K'naan and Snoop Dogg in 2010, K'naan, The Beatnuts and The Roots in 2009, and top-selling album artists Eminem and Kid Cudi in 2011.
Both Eminem and Kid Cudi released albums in 2010 - both achieving great sales success. Eminem's Recovery spent 42 weeks on Billboard's top 10 Rap Albums, and Kid Cudi's, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager spent 21 weeks on the top 10.
To see Eminem, Kid Cudi, and the rest of the Osheaga lineup perform at Parc Jean-Drapeau, purchase early bird three-day tickets on April 15 at noon for $197 CAD on the Osheaga Festival website: http://www.osheaga.com/en/tickets. Two-day passes and single day tickets go on sale on April 19.
