New Black television and movies tv-network "Bounce TV" will launch this fall. The United States
first broadcast network aimed at African-American viewers will debut with a focus on free movies,
documentaries, and sports games. Launching in fall, it's expected to change the way minorities
in America watch tv.
"Its super cool to see new Black culture evolving. It sounds like Bounce TV will be something
a bit more sophisticated that other networks, which I am sure many minorities will appreciate"
says CKHiD blog network owner and music artist, C.KHiD.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia "Bounce TV" will be an over-the-air channel that is supported by
sponsors. Programming for the channel will be aimed towards viewers ages 25 - 54, living a
sophisticated lifestyle.
According to Ryan Glover, a former Turner Broadcasting executive and member of the Bounce TV
leadership team, the new network is NEW. Bounce will not compete with existing black tv networks.
BET, TV One, nor Centric will be similiar to the programming structure of Bounce TV.
"We are basically targeting the rabbit-ear consumer," Glover said.
As the Bounce TV network grows, it will begin to produce new black television shows and programming.
According to company representatives, Bounce hopes at launch to reach half of the US households,
an estimated 50 million.
Bounce TV already acquired television rights to an estimated 400 black movie titles. These
black films include "The Wiz," "Car Wash," several Spike Lee productions from "Jungle Fever"
to "Do the Right Thing". Also, mainstream blockbuster films starring oscar-winner
Denzel Washington, such as "The Hurricane," the Civil War epic "Glory" and "Philadelphia" will be
shown.
