DRAKE ARTIST BIO ←
Aubrey Drake Graham is a Canadian born actor and enterainer. He was originally known for his character on Disney show
"Degrassi," Jimmy Brooks. A popular show amongst young kids, Jimmy Brooks was a later-paralyzed teen who lost his
legs to gun violence at school.
Moving beyond Television Entertainment show Degrassi, Drake somehow met rap artist Lil Wayne, who he's now
signed to under Young Money / Universal Records.
Landing major hits on the music charts in 2009, Drake's songs "Best I Ever Had" and "Successful" topped charts
without being on an official album release. Considered a rap mixtape, Drake's album-like "So Far Gone" release created
a buzz so strong record labels had a bidding war over his contract.
Unknown to most, Drake's first music video 'Replacement Girl' was the first time an unsigned Canadaian music artist
appeared on BET. It was aired April 30th, 2007 as the New Joint of the Day on Black Entertainment Television's
106 & Park. The song which features R&B singer Trey Songz got little attention but established Drake in the minds
of many.
Continuing to build buzz through 2008, Drake released "Heartbreak Drake" as a follow up to his music video. It
helped generate enough attention to bring the interests of other Toronto, Ontario artitsts who started
collaborating with the budding rapper.
As time went, Lil Wayne took more and more interest in Drake until he finally signed him. As of summer 2009, Drake's
now going on tour with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, and Souljah Boy.
